Dell Latitude 7490 14.0" FHD business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0-inch Full HD business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor. It ships with 16GB of memory and a 256GB PCIe SSD running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory. A fingerprint reader and webcam are included.

Suited for mobile office work and light productivity

This configuration suits professionals who need a compact, non-touch 14.0-inch display at 1920 x 1080 resolution for document editing, web apps and video calls. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics card for 3D rendering, a larger screen for multi-window workflows, or a higher-capacity drive for local media libraries should consider other options.

Quad-core i5-8350U with 6MB L3 cache at 1.70GHz

The processor runs at a base frequency of 1.70GHz and provides four cores with 6MB of L3 cache. This determines how quickly the system handles typical business workloads such as spreadsheets, email and browser-based tools. The 16GB memory and 256GB PCIe SSD complement the CPU for responsive multitasking.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB PCIe SSD and which step do people often miss?

The drive slides into the internal M.2 slot and is secured with a single screw; the step often missed is re-seating the battery connector before closing the base cover.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB memory configuration need later?

The memory is soldered to the board, so it cannot be upgraded; plan for a full board replacement if capacity ever becomes insufficient.

What limit appears first on the Intel UHD Graphics 620 during sustained workloads?

The shared 16GB system memory becomes the bottleneck, limiting texture and frame-buffer space before the GPU compute units saturate.
