Dell 1P7DP 2TB SAS drive

The Dell 1P7DP is a 2TB 3.5" internal hard drive that spins at 7.2K RPM and connects through a SAS interface. It ships with a mounting tray for direct installation in compatible Dell servers or storage arrays. The drive is supplied new and uses the Seagate ST2000NM0023 mechanism under the Dell part number 1P7DP.

Included tray and SAS interface

The bundled tray allows the drive to slide into hot-swap bays without extra caddies or screws. A SAS connection provides dual-port redundancy and native command queuing for multi-drive environments. No additional software or firmware utilities are included in the package.

2TB capacity for nearline workloads

Two terabytes accommodate operating-system images, backup sets and archival data on a single spindle. The 7.2K RPM spindle delivers consistent sequential throughput for streaming reads and writes. Workloads that demand low latency or high random IOPS will exceed the mechanical limits of this drive.

Questions about this item

What maintenance or replacement will the 2TB 7.2K RPM SAS drive need later?

Plan to replace the drive once its rated workload or SMART thresholds are reached; the tray is reusable so only the drive module is swapped.

What limit shows up first under sustained use on the 2TB SAS drive?

The 7.2K RPM spindle caps sustained throughput, so sequential speed plateaus before the SAS interface saturates.

How much noise, heat or power does the 3.5" SAS drive produce running all day?

Expect typical 3.5" enterprise drive acoustics and heat; the SAS interface draws standard power for a 7.2K RPM mechanism under continuous load.
