DELL 24X Slimline SATA Optical Drive

The DELL 814 is a 24X Slimline SATA internal CD-RW DVD combo drive built for Optiplex 740 745 755 desktops. It reads and writes CDs and reads DVDs in a single half-height bay. This new drive suits offices or home users replacing a failed optical unit in those specific models.

SATA Connector and Slimline Mounting

A standard SATA data and power interface connects directly to the motherboard and PSU without adapters. The slimline form factor fits only chassis designed for that width so verify the bay before purchase. Builders needing a full-height 5.25 inch drive or Blu-ray capability should choose a different model.

Questions about this item

The drive uses a SATA interface; real-world read and write speeds will be limited by the SATA link and the 24X maximum disc rating rather than by the bus itself.

Which chassis and mounting style does the 814 model require for installation?

It is built for the slimline optical bay found in OptiPlex 740, 745 and 755 systems and connects with the standard slimline SATA power-plus-data connector.
