Questions about this item

What real-world throughput can I expect from the 12 Gb/s SAS interface once the drive is installed?

The 12 Gb/s SAS link sets the maximum bus bandwidth, but actual sustained transfer rates are limited by the 7.2K rotational speed and the drive's internal media transfer capability, which is lower than the interface ceiling.

What does the 12 Gb/s SAS rating cap in practice for this 3.5 inch drive?

The 12 Gb/s SAS interface caps the host-bus bandwidth, while the 7.2K spindle speed governs the maximum sequential read and write performance the drive can deliver to that bus.
