Dell 3.84 TB SAS hybrid SSD

This Dell 400-ATHW internal solid-state drive provides 3.84 TB of storage in a 3.5 inch form factor. It connects through a 12 Gbps SAS interface and uses MLC flash with 512n sector formatting. The drive is built for enterprise server and storage array environments.

Suited for SAS bays needing hybrid endurance

It fits 3.5 inch SAS drive bays in compatible Dell PowerEdge servers and storage systems that accept hybrid carrier drives. Buyers without a 12 Gbps SAS backplane or a server chassis that supports this specific hybrid form factor cannot install the drive.

12 Gbps SAS interface

The drive requires a 12 Gbps SAS connection to operate at its rated speed. If the host controller or backplane only supports 6 Gbps SAS or a different protocol, the drive will not function correctly.

Questions about this item

Does my server have a SAS 12Gbps backplane to run this 400-ATHW drive?

The drive connects through a SAS 12Gbps interface, so the host backplane or HBA must support that link speed for full performance.

Will this 3.5in SAS SSD work in the same enclosure as my older 6Gbps SAS drives?

Yes, the 12Gbps SAS interface is backward compatible with 6Gbps and 3Gbps SAS infrastructure, so it can share the same backplane.

How do I verify the 3.84TB capacity and 512n sector format after installation?

The operating system disk utility will report 3.84TB of usable space and show a 512-byte native sector size for the 400-ATHW.
