DELL

DELL 55H49 3TB 3.5" SAS 7.2K internal hard drive

SKU CH-EGYN-NAC7Z

3.5-inch SAS drive with 3 TB capacity and 7.2 K RPM for desktop storage

  • 3 TB capacity stores large data sets
  • SAS interface enables reliable enterprise connectivity
  • 2 K RPM spindle delivers steady throughput
  • 5 inch form factor fits standard drive bays
  • New condition ensures full manufacturer specification

Drive identity

The Dell 55H49 is a 3.5 inch internal hard drive with a 3TB capacity and a SAS 6G interface spinning at 7.2K RPM. It is built for desktop workstations and servers that need high-capacity bulk storage on a SAS backplane.

Fit and alternatives

This drive suits administrators expanding a SAS storage array or replacing a failed spindle in a Dell chassis. It is not for systems that only provide SATA ports, for laptops or small-form-factor cases that cannot accept a 3.5 inch device, or for workloads demanding the low latency and high IOPS of solid-state media.

Deciding specification

The SAS 6G interface is the single specification that decides compatibility; the drive will only operate when connected to a SAS controller or backplane that supports this signalling standard.

Questions about this item

What SAS host bus adapter or RAID controller do I need to connect the 55H49 drive?

The drive uses a SAS interface at 6 Gbit/s; a compatible SAS HBA or RAID card with a free 3.5-inch bay and SAS data cable is required for operation.

Can the 55H49 share a backplane with older 3 Gbit/s SAS drives?

Yes, the 6 Gbit/s SAS link auto-negotiates down to 3 Gbit/s, so the 3 TB drive will work alongside legacy SAS devices on the same controller.

How can I verify the 3 TB capacity and 7.2K rpm speed after installation?

Check the drive properties in your OS or RAID BIOS — it should report 3000 GB and identify as a 7.2K rpm SAS model (ST3000NM0023).
