Seven new Dell 2.5 inch SAS hard drives in silver metal casings

DELL

DELL 61XPF (LOT OF 7PC) ST9146853SS 146GB 15000RPM 2.5" SAS internal hard drive

SKU CH-YRBC-ZBQV5

Lot of seven 146GB 15000RPM 2.5" SAS internal hard drives for PowerEdge servers

  • 146 GB capacity stores critical server data
  • 15 000 RPM spindle delivers fast transaction throughput
  • SAS 6 Gb/s interface connects directly to PowerEdge backplanes
  • 5 inch small form factor fits dense drive bays
  • Lot of 7 drives scales storage in a single purchase

Seven-drive SAS array

This lot contains seven new 2.5-inch SAS hard drives, each offering 146 GB of storage at 15000 RPM. The drives use a 6 Gb/s SAS interface and are built for Dell PowerEdge server environments.

Server administrators versus laptop users

IT teams refreshing or expanding PowerEdge storage pools will find a matched set of tested, fully functional units. Buyers needing drives for laptops or desktop PCs cannot use the SAS interface or the 2.5-inch enterprise form factor.

15000 RPM spindle speed

The 15000 RPM rotation rate determines the drive's random-access latency and sustained throughput, making it the key figure for deciding whether the performance profile matches the workload.

How it compares

Questions about this item

How much noise and heat does the 15000RPM SAS drive generate during continuous operation?

The 15000RPM spindle speed and 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s interface indicate enterprise-grade performance; typical 15K drives produce noticeable whir and warmth under sustained load.

What host hardware must I already have for these seven 146GB drives to work?

A server or controller with 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s ports is required; the drives are designed for PowerEdge backplanes and will not fit laptop bays.

Will the 6Gb/s SAS interface work alongside older 3Gb/s SAS controllers I still use?

The 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s interface is backward compatible with 3Gb/s SAS controllers, so the drives will operate at the slower link speed on legacy hardware.
