What it is and who it is for

This DELL 65W Surface Charger delivers 15V at 4A through a magnetic connector for compatible Microsoft Surface devices. It includes a 5V 1A USB port for charging a phone or small accessory at the same time. The unit is new and rated for 100-240V 50-60Hz input.

How it fits into a setup

The magnetic plug connects without precise alignment and a white LED shows charging status. A 10FT cable with thick copper wire reaches distant outlets at a desk, sofa or bedside. The charger also supports 44W, 36W and 24W output modes for devices that negotiate lower power.

What it replaces and when to upgrade

It replaces a lost or damaged original Surface power supply for models including Pro 3 through 11, Laptop 1 through 7, Book 1 through 3, Go 1 through 3 and Laptop Studio i5. It is not for Surface Laptop Studio i7 or for buyers who need more than 65W total output.

Questions about this item

Does the 65W charger throttle down after long sessions?

The unit delivers a maximum of 65W and automatically steps down to 44W, 36W or 24W profiles when the connected Surface negotiates lower power, so sustained output follows the device request rather than a thermal limit.

How hot or loud does the brick get when left plugged in all day?

The adapter has no fan and runs silently; normal warmth is expected during continuous 65W load, but the supplied data does not quote a surface-temperature or noise figure.

Which cable or connector must I already have to use this charger?

The charger includes a fixed 10 ft cable with the proprietary Surface magnetic connector, so no separate cable is required — only a compatible Surface device listed in the compatibility table.
