Questions about this item

Will the 16X IDE DVD-ROM drive work with an older Dimension desktop that still uses a 40-pin IDE cable?

Yes, the drive uses a standard IDE interface so it connects directly to the 40-pin cable found in legacy Dimension systems.

How can I confirm the 16X drive is reading discs correctly after installation?

Insert a known-good CD or DVD; the drive LED should blink and the disc contents should appear in File Explorer within a few seconds.
