300 GB SAS drive with 10 000 RPM spindle

The Dell 740Y7 is a 300 GB internal hard drive that spins at 10 000 RPM and connects through a SAS interface. It uses a 2.5 inch form factor and ships with an F830C mounting tray for direct installation in compatible Dell systems.

Suits high-IOPS server workloads.

This drive fits servers and storage arrays that need fast random access on a SAS backplane. It is not suitable for desktops or laptops that only provide SATA power and data connectors, nor for users who need larger storage volumes than 300 GB.

SAS interface decides compatibility

The drive requires a 6 Gb/s SAS host bus adapter or controller; it will not operate on a SATA-only port. Verify that the target system accepts a 2.5 inch SAS device with the supplied tray before purchase.
