Questions about this item

Is the 8X read speed the only performance figure I need to compare when choosing this drive?

The 8X rating is the maximum DVD read speed; actual throughput depends on the disc quality and the OptiPlex SFF's SATA controller.

Will the 8X speed feel slower than a standard desktop DVD drive once installed?

Slim drives spin at the same 8X maximum as full-height models, so real-world read times are comparable in a supported OptiPlex SFF.
