Questions about this item

How do I install the ST900MM0168 2.5" SAS drive in a server bay, and what step is often missed?

Slide the drive into a 2.5" hot-swap tray until the SAS connector seats firmly, then lock the lever; the step often missed is securing the tray latch so the 12Gb/s link stays connected under vibration.

What maintenance or replacement will the 900GB 10000RPM SAS drive need later?

Plan to replace the drive after its rated service life or if SMART attributes show reallocated sectors; no routine lubrication or firmware updates are required for the SAS mechanism itself.
