Enterprise 3 TB SAS drive with tray

The Dell 91K8T is a 3 TB 3.5-inch enterprise-class hard drive that spins at 7.2K RPM and connects through a 6 Gbps SAS interface. It ships new in an R & T Series tray ready for installation in compatible Dell systems. The 64 MB cache supports sustained throughput for bulk storage workloads.

Suited for capacity-focused arrays and archive tiers

This drive suits administrators who need high-capacity nearline storage in SAS-equipped Dell PowerEdge or PowerVault platforms. It is not for workloads needing higher spindle speeds for low-latency random I/O, nor for systems that only accept 2.5-inch form factors or lack a SAS backplane.

6 Gbps SAS interface determines compatibility

The single specification that decides fit is the 6 Gbps SAS interface; the drive requires a SAS controller or backplane that supports this link speed. Verify that the target chassis accepts 3.5-inch trays and that the RAID or HBA firmware recognises the 91K8T part number before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the 91K8T ship with the F238F tray or must I source it separately?

The drive arrives pre-mounted in the F238F tray so no separate caddy is required.

Should I pick this 3 TB 7.2K SAS model or a different capacity for my array?

Choose this 3 TB unit when you need 3 TB of raw space at 7.2K RPM; select another capacity only if your volume target differs.

What does the 6 Gbps SAS rating deliver once the 91K8T is installed?

The interface supports up to 6 Gbps burst transfers, while sustained throughput follows the 7.2K RPM spindle and 64 MB cache.
