DELL 93XWF Quick Assist Adapter 8970

The DELL 93XWF is a PCI‑Express 3.0 x16 accelerator card built around the Intel Quick Assist Adapter 8970. It delivers a 100 Gbps transfer rate with a 23‑watt thermal design power and ships as a standard bracket form‑factor adapter for wired networking workloads.

Suitable for crypto offload and compression tasks

This adapter suits servers that need hardware‑accelerated encryption, decryption and data compression at line rate. It is not for systems lacking a full‑height PCI‑Express 3.0 x16 slot or for deployments that require a different interface speed or form factor.

Deciding specification: PCI‑Express 3.0 x16

The card requires an available PCI‑Express 3.0 x16 slot to operate at its rated 100 Gbps throughput. Verify the motherboard or riser provides this exact slot type and sufficient 23‑watt power headroom before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does my server need a PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot for the Dell 93XWF Intel Quick Assist Adapter 8970?

Yes, the adapter requires a PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot and will draw up to 23 Watts from that slot.

Can I run this 100 Gbps accelerator alongside an older PCI-E 3.0 x8 card in the same system?

The adapter occupies a full x16 lane; an x8 card will operate at its own negotiated width on a separate slot without reducing the 100 Gbps link.

How can I verify the 8970 is delivering 100 Gbps throughput after installation?

Check the driver status and run a Quick Assist throughput test; sustained traffic at 100 Gbps with the adapter reporting 23 W confirms correct operation.
