Genuine Dell OEM web camera module

This is a genuine Dell OEM replacement web camera module carrying part number 997FY. It is a new component supplied exactly as pictured and intended for Latitude and Precision laptops that originally shipped with the optional dual-microphone camera.

Dual-microphone array for clearer capture

The module integrates two microphones so the laptop can record stereo audio or use beam-forming for noise suppression during calls. No separate microphone accessory is required once this unit is installed in a compatible chassis.

Suits owners of listed Latitude and Precision models

It fits Latitude 3440, 3450, 3550, 5350, 5450, 5550 and Precision 3490, 3590, 3591 when those systems were configured with the dual-microphone camera option. Buyers whose laptops use a single-microphone or infrared camera module should look elsewhere, as will anyone needing a higher-resolution sensor than the one originally specified.

Questions about this item

Will the dual-microphone array on the 997FY module need recalibration or replacement after extended daily use?

The dual-microphone array is a fixed component of the 997FY module and has no user-serviceable calibration; if audio quality degrades the entire camera module would be replaced.

What is the first limit reached when the 997FY camera runs continuously during long video conferences?

Continuous operation is limited by the laptop's thermal envelope and USB power budget rather than the camera itself, so the host system will throttle before the 997FY reaches a hard limit.

How much heat or fan noise does the 997FY add when it stays active all day on a Precision 3591?

The 997FY draws minimal power and produces negligible heat, so it does not trigger additional fan activity on a Precision 3591 during all-day use.
