1.2 TB SAS drive for servers

This 1.2 TB SAS drive targets servers and storage arrays that need fast 10000 RPM performance in a 2.5 inch form factor. It suits environments where quick access to large datasets is required. The 12 Gb/s interface supports high-throughput workloads.

Hot-swap bare drive build

The bare drive ships without a carrier and is designed for hot-swap bays, allowing replacement without system downtime. SAS connectivity uses a combined data and power connector that fits standard backplanes. The 2.5 inch size fits dense drive cages.

12 Gb/s SAS practical limits

The 12 Gb/s SAS link delivers high bandwidth but actual throughput depends on the controller and backplane in use. Mechanical 10000 RPM media limits random IOPS compared with solid-state alternatives. The drive requires a compatible SAS host adapter or RAID card.

Questions about this item

What real-world throughput does the SAS 12 Gb/s interface cap at on the 99X7T?

The 12 Gb/s SAS link tops out at 12 Gb/s; the 10 000 RPM platters and 6 Gb/s average latency set the practical ceiling.

Which drive bay and tray does the 2.5" 99X7T require?

It fits a 2.5" SAS hot-swap bay with the matching Dell hot-swap tray.

How is the 99X7T installed and what step is often missed?

Slide the drive into the hot-swap tray, insert until the latch clicks, then verify the controller sees the 1.2 TB volume.
