Alienware 17 R4 17.3" Lid Cover

This back cover assembly replaces the original LCD lid on an Alienware 17 R4 laptop equipped with the Tobii Eye Tracker. It is a Dell OEM part that matches the factory specifications for that specific configuration. The assembly includes the wireless antenna cables and the Tron LED lighting with their associated cables.

Replaces Damaged Alienware 17 R4 Lid

The part is intended for systems where the existing lid is cracked, dented or has suffered antenna or LED failure. Swapping the complete assembly restores the structural integrity, wireless reception and the distinctive AlienFX lighting in a single step. The upgrade is only worthwhile when the laptop already contains the Tobii Eye Tracker hardware.

Verify Tobii Eye Tracker Presence

Before ordering, confirm that the laptop was built with the optional Tobii Eye Tracker, as this cover is not compatible with standard Alienware 17 R4 models. Cross-reference the Dell part number 3G8KK with the sticker on the current lid or the service tag to ensure the correct match.

Questions about this item

Will the 17.3" Alienware 17 R4 lid cover with Tobii Eye Tracker fit my existing hinge brackets and bezel clips?

This assembly is built for Alienware 17 R4 models that include the Tobii Eye Tracker option, so the hinge mounts and bezel tabs match the factory chassis for those systems.

Which cables must be routed during installation, and which step do people usually miss?

You must route the two wireless antenna cables and the Tron LED light cables through the hinge channels; the step most often missed is seating the antenna connectors fully before snapping the bezel shut.

If the Tobii sensor window or LED strips fail later, can they be replaced without buying a whole new lid?

The Tobii sensor window and Tron LED strips are integrated into this cover assembly; if either fails the entire lid back cover must be replaced.
