Alienware 17 R4 lid cover

This replacement lid assembly fits the 17.3 inch Alienware 17 R4 chassis when the optional Tobii eye tracker hardware is installed. It restores the original external finish and structural integrity of the display housing. The part carries Dell part number FPP84 for direct identification.

Includes wireless antenna cables

Two wireless antenna cables are pre-routed inside the cover to maintain Wi-Fi connectivity after installation. Integrated Tron LED lights with their connecting cables recreate the distinctive Alienware lighting accent on the rear of the display. Both features are built into the assembly, reducing the number of separate components required during the repair.

Suits owners replacing a damaged lid

This cover is intended for technicians or owners servicing an Alienware 17 R4 that already includes the Tobii eye tracker option. It will not align with models lacking that hardware or with other Alienware 17 generations. Buyers needing a standard non-Tobii back panel should verify their part number before ordering.

Questions about this item

Will the Tobii eye-tracker cutout and LED wiring on this FPP84 lid need any adjustment when I swap it onto my Alienware 17 R4?

The cover is built for systems that already have the Tobii Eye Tracker hardware, so the cutout and LED cables line up without modification.

What is the first fitment limit I hit if I try to install this back cover on an Alienware 17 R3 without Tobii hardware?

The R3 without Tobii lacks the sensor window and LED mounts, so the panel cannot be secured correctly.

Do the two wireless antenna cables and Tron LED leads add noticeable heat or fan noise during all-day use?

They are passive conductors and LEDs only; they draw negligible power and generate no measurable heat or noise.
