17.3-inch FHD 2-in-1 gaming laptop

The Dell Alienware X17 R2 is a 17.3-inch convertible laptop built for high-performance gaming and content creation. It runs on a 14-core Intel Core i9-12900HK processor reaching 5.0 GHz with Turbo Boost. The system includes 16GB of memory, a 2TB SSD, and a dedicated GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card with 12GB GDDR6X video memory. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed.

Suited for portable high-end gaming.

This machine fits users who want desktop-class frame rates in a device that can shift between laptop and tablet modes. The Legend 2.0 chassis adds AlienFX RGB lighting across 16.8 million colours. Buyers who need pen input or a touch display for drawing or annotation should look elsewhere, as the FHD panel is non-touch.

RTX 3080 Ti 12GB GDDR6X dedicated graphics

The single specification that defines this configuration is the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU with 12GB of GDDR6X memory. It determines whether the system can handle 4K rendering, heavy ray-traced titles, or GPU-accelerated creative workloads at the level you expect.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 GB of soldered RAM limit future upgrades on this Alienware X17 R2?

The 16 GB memory is not user-replaceable, so capacity cannot be increased after purchase.

What thermal ceiling stops the i9-12900HK from holding 5.0 GHz during long gaming sessions?

The 12-phase GPU and 6-phase CPU voltage regulation manages heat, but sustained 5.0 GHz depends on workload and chassis airflow.

How loud do the fans get when the RTX 3080 Ti and 14-core CPU run flat-out all day?

Fan speed ramps with the 12-phase GPU and 6-phase CPU power delivery; expect noticeable airflow under continuous maximum load.
