17.3-inch 480Hz gaming laptop

This Alienware X17 R2 pairs a 17.3-inch FHD panel running at 480Hz with a 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H and an RTX 3070 Ti 8GB GDDR6. The 16GB of 4800MHz DDR5 and 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe storage support fast load times in competitive titles. It ships with Windows 11 Home and Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1675 plus Bluetooth 5.2.

480Hz G-SYNC display limits

The 1920x1080 screen reaches 480Hz with a 3ms response and ComfortView Plus, while NVIDIA G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus manage frame pacing and GPU switching. Wireless throughput depends on the 802.11ax 2x2 link and local spectrum conditions. Battery life and thermals will vary with sustained GPU load at high refresh rates.

Lunar Light chassis and connectivity

The Lunar Light finish covers a chassis that includes USB-C among its ports for peripheral expansion. Dual-channel DDR5 and the PCIe NVMe drive are installed as 2 x 8GB modules and a single 1TB stick respectively. Internal upgrade access follows Alienware service procedures for this form factor.

Questions about this item

Can the 17.3-inch 480Hz panel be driven at its full refresh rate by the RTX 3070 Ti in competitive titles?

The RTX 3070 Ti 8GB GDDR6 is built to push high frame rates at 1920x1080; in esports titles the 480Hz panel can run near its ceiling while G-SYNC keeps motion smooth.

Is the 16GB DDR5 4800MHz memory soldered or can I add more later?

The 16GB ships as 2 x 8GB dual-channel DDR5 modules; both slots are occupied, so any upgrade means replacing the existing pair.

Does the Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1675 802.11 ax 2x2 card support Bluetooth 5.2 peripherals without a dongle?

Yes — the same module provides Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, so mice, headsets and controllers pair directly.
