Genuine Dell OEM Ribbon Cable for Chromebook 3100

This genuine Dell OEM part connects the USB IO board to the motherboard in the Chromebook 3100 laptop. It is the 40-pin cable, one of two ribbon cables required for the IO board assembly. The part is designed specifically for the laptop version equipped with the optional 4G LTE WWAN wireless module.

Verify Laptop Version

Confirm the device is the Chromebook 3100 laptop and not the 2-in-1 variant, as this cable is not compatible with the latter. Check that the repair requires the 40-pin ribbon cable rather than the second cable used on the IO board. The part number MRKW3 should match the existing component or service manual reference.

Fits Chromebook 3100 WWAN Laptop Repair

The cable installs inside the chassis to restore the right-side USB IO connectivity. It frees the port assembly for full data and peripheral function once seated correctly. Installation requires disassembly of the laptop to access the motherboard and IO board connectors. No other components are included with this single ribbon cable.

Questions about this item

Does the Dell MRKW3 cable include the USB IO board or must that be bought separately?

The listing shows only the 40-pin ribbon cable; the USB IO board itself is not included and must be sourced separately.

Which Dell Chromebook 3100 variant does the MRKW3 cable fit — the laptop or the 2-in-1?

This 40-pin cable is for the laptop version of the Chromebook 3100 with optional 4G LTE WWAN; it is not compatible with the 2-in-1 version.

What does the 40-pin count tell me about where this cable connects inside the Chromebook 3100?

The 40-pin ribbon links the right-side USB IO board to the motherboard; there are two cables on that board and this is the wider one.
