2 TB enterprise SATA hard drive

The Dell Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 is a 2000 GB internal hard drive spinning at 7200 RPM with a 128 MB cache. It connects via a 3.5 inch SATA 6 Gb/s interface and ships with an R Series caddy tray included. The unit is new and reports zero operating hours.

Suited for bulk storage arrays and RAID rebuilds

This drive fits servers and workstations that need high-capacity mechanical storage on a standard SATA bus. Builders who require solid-state latency or a PCIe interface will not be served by this mechanical SATA device. The 3.5 inch form factor also excludes slim laptops and 2.5 inch bays.

Deciding spec: 7200 RPM spindle speed

The 7200 RPM rotational speed determines sustained throughput and random-access performance for mechanical workloads. A 128 MB buffer helps absorb write bursts during RAID rebuilds or backup jobs. Match the SATA 6 Gb/s host controller to avoid a bottleneck on the interface.

Questions about this item

Does my desktop need a free 3.5" drive bay and a SATA data plus power cable to install this 2000GB 7200RPM drive?

Yes, the drive fits a standard 3.5" bay and connects via a SATA 6Gb/s data cable and a SATA power connector from the PSU.

Will the included R Series caddy let me mount this 3.5" SATA 6Gb/s drive in my older Dell chassis that uses that tray system?

The supplied R Series caddy matches Dell trays designed for 3.5" SATA drives, so it slides into compatible bays without extra brackets.

How can I confirm the ST2000NM0033 is running at 7200RPM with its 128MB cache after installation?

Check the model and rotational speed in BIOS or use a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo to verify 7200RPM and 128MB buffer.
