Genuine Dell IR Camera Module CW54M

This genuine Dell CW54M infrared camera module restores Windows Hello facial recognition on compatible Inspiron and Latitude laptops. It is a direct replacement for the factory-fitted IR webcam option. Buyers who need a standard high-definition webcam without infrared support should look for the non-IR module instead.

Verify Original IR Configuration Before Ordering

The listed Inspiron 13, Inspiron 15, Latitude 3490 and Latitude 3590 models were sold with multiple camera choices. This module only fits systems that originally shipped with the IR infrared camera option. Match the CW54M part number on your existing module or confirm the original specification before purchasing.

No Additional Accessories or Software Included

The package contains the camera module alone; no mounting brackets, cables or driver discs are supplied. Installation relies on the laptop’s existing hinge brackets and internal connector. Windows will load the required drivers automatically once the hardware is detected.

Questions about this item

Does the CW54M module ship with any mounting brackets or cables, or do I need to source them separately?

The CW54M is supplied as the camera module only; mounting brackets and flex cables are not included and must be reused from the original unit or purchased separately.

My Inspiron 15 7570 had a standard HD webcam from the factory — will the CW54M work as an upgrade?

No, the CW54M is compatible only with systems originally configured with the optional IR infrared camera; it will not function in a laptop that shipped with a standard HD webcam.

After installing the CW54M in my Latitude 3490, what does the infrared capability actually enable?

The IR sensor enables Windows Hello facial recognition sign-in, allowing you to log in without a password using the infrared camera on your Latitude 3490.
