DD670 Chassis Purpose

The Dell EMC DD670 chassis is a 2U rack-mountable metal enclosure built specifically for the Data Domain DD670 storage system. It supplies the structural frame that holds drives, power supplies and networking modules in an enterprise deduplication and backup appliance. The unit is sold as the chassis only, without any internal components installed.

Fit And Alternatives

This chassis suits IT teams replacing a damaged DD670 frame or building a spare unit for an existing Data Domain deployment. Buyers who need a complete, populated storage appliance or a chassis for a different server platform should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What rack form factor does the DD670 chassis use?

The chassis is a 2U rack-mountable unit designed for standard server racks.

How is the DD670 chassis installed in a rack?

Mount the metal chassis into a standard server rack using the appropriate rack rails for a 2U form factor, then secure it with screws.

What internal components will need to be added or replaced in the DD670 chassis over time?

The chassis is sold empty, so storage drives, power supplies, and networking modules must be installed initially and may require replacement later.
