Drive Bay Adapter for Dell PowerEdge servers

The Dell 51TJV adapter fits a single internal expansion bay in compatible PowerEdge and PowerVault servers. It provides a green mounting tray that secures a drive or filler in the chassis. System integrators maintaining legacy Dell rack or tower platforms use this part to preserve original bay alignment and airflow.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The passive metal construction adds no fans, motors or active electronics, so it contributes zero acoustic noise and draws no electrical power. Its open frame design allows server cooling airflow to pass through unimpeded. The lightweight tray weighs approximately 8 oz and does not alter the thermal profile of the installed drive.

Compatibility list defines supported platforms

The adapter is validated for PowerEdge models including 800, 1600SC, 1800, 1850, 2600, 2650, 2800, 2850, 3250, 6600, 6650, 6800, 6850 and 7150. PowerVault compatibility covers 220S, 221S, 220F, 650F and 660F. Servers outside this list cannot use the tray without modification.

Questions about this item

How is the 51TJV drive bay adapter installed, and which step is commonly missed?

Slide the green adapter into an empty internal bay until the latch clicks, then secure it with the server's retention screw — skipping the screw leaves the tray loose.

What maintenance or replacement will the 51TJV need later?

The adapter itself has no moving parts; only the drive mounted inside it will eventually need replacement.

What limit appears first when the 51TJV is used continuously in a PowerEdge 2850?

The single expansion bay fills immediately, so capacity is the first constraint.
