Suits dense storage workloads, not GPU compute

The twelve 3.5-inch bays and H730 RAID controller make this system a fit for backup repositories, archive storage or virtualisation hosts that need local capacity. Two Seagate 4 TB SAS drives are installed, leaving ten bays free for expansion. No GPU is present and only six PCIe 3.0 slots are available, so buyers who need graphics acceleration or many add-in cards should look elsewhere.

H730 RAID controller decides the storage topology

The H730 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across the twelve SAS or SATA bays, defining how the installed 4 TB drives and any additions are protected and presented. Memory scales to 1536 GB of DDR4 at up to 2400 MT/s per processor, and the iDRAC8 remote management card provides out-of-band control. Networking starts at four 1 GbE ports with optional 10 GbE daughter cards.
