Dual-port 16 Gb Fibre Channel HBA adds two high-speed storage links over a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot
The Dell Emulex LPe31002-M6-D is a 16Gb dual-port Fibre Channel host bus adapter. It connects servers to storage-area networks using two independent ports. The card installs in a PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot. It targets data-centre workloads such as virtualization, backup and disaster recovery.
Replacing a single-port 8Gb HBA with this card doubles both port count and link speed. The jump is worthwhile when a server has few free PCIe slots but needs more bandwidth and path redundancy for critical applications or replication traffic.
The PCIe 2.0 x8 interface caps throughput at roughly 4 GB/s per direction. That limit can throttle the dual 16Gb Fibre Channel ports under sustained heavy load, so the card suits environments where peak aggregate traffic stays within the bus envelope.

The adapter uses a PCI-Express 2.0 x8 interface and requires an available x8 or wider slot on the motherboard or riser card.
Installers often leave one or both SFP+ transceivers unseated; each port needs a compatible module clicked fully into the cage before cabling.
The SFP+ optical or copper transceivers are the only field-replaceable components; keep spares matching your fibre type and distance.
