Dell EqualLogic 600 GB 10K SAS drive

This 3.5-inch SAS hard drive delivers 600 GB of storage at 10000 RPM with a 6 Gbps interface. It ships new and includes the Dell EqualLogic caddy for direct installation in compatible arrays. The drive targets IT teams maintaining PS4000, PS5000 or PS6000 storage systems.

Replaces failed or capacity-constrained drives

Swapping in this 10K RPM SAS unit restores performance and redundancy when an existing drive fails or when additional spindle count is required. The upgrade is worth it when the array reports degraded status or when workloads demand the lower latency of 10K rotation over slower alternatives.

Fits PS4000 PS5000 PS6000 bays with included tray

The supplied caddy aligns with the drive sleds in these EqualLogic models so no extra hardware is needed. A 6 Gbps SAS backplane and available 3.5-inch slot are the only infrastructure requirements. The drive adds 600 GB of raw capacity without consuming additional rack space or power beyond the existing enclosure budget.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5" SAS drive and included caddy fit a PS4000, PS5000 or PS6000 array?

The drive is a 3.5" SAS unit and ships with a Dell EqualLogic caddy that matches the PS4000, PS5000 and PS6000 drive bays.

What is the correct way to seat the drive in the tray so the SAS connector engages?

Slide the drive into the supplied caddy until the SAS connector clicks firmly into the backplane; the tray handle then locks the assembly in place.

When should the 600GB 10000RPM drive be replaced in a RAID set?

Replace the drive if SMART reports reallocated sectors, the array logs predictive-failure alerts, or the drive exceeds the manufacturer-rated workload limits.
