The Dell H8DVC is a 300GB 15K 2.5 inch SAS internal hard drive supplied with an R Series tray. It is built for desktop systems that require a 15K RPM SAS drive in a 2.5 inch form factor with the included mounting hardware. The drive arrives new and the specific part number matches the listed H8DVC identifier.

Suits SAS bays needing a 300GB 15K drive

This drive suits builders who need a 300GB capacity drive spinning at 15K RPM with a SAS interface and the supplied R Series tray. It is not for systems that cannot accept a SAS connection or lack a compatible 2.5 inch drive bay for the included tray. It is also not for users who require a different capacity or rotational speed than the specified 300GB and 15K figures.

Questions about this item

Does the H8DVC require a 2.5 inch SAS backplane or caddy to install in a server?

Yes, the 2.5 inch form factor needs a compatible SAS backplane or drive cage that accepts the supplied R Series tray.

Will this 15K RPM SAS drive negotiate down to 6 Gb/s if my RAID controller only supports that speed?

SAS interfaces are backward compatible, so the drive will operate at the maximum speed the controller allows.
