The Dell HDKWG is a high-density lift tray designed to hold any 3.5" x 1.0" SAS or SATA hard drive inside compatible Powervault MD3x60 series enclosures. It serves administrators who need to populate drive bays in MD3060, MD3260, MD3460, MD3660 or MD3860 models with standard 3.5-inch disks.

Sustained operation in dense arrays

Because the tray is built for high-density configurations, it maintains drive alignment and connector seating during continuous read and write workloads across multiple bays. The rigid frame and latch mechanism resist vibration that can accumulate when dozens of drives spin simultaneously in MD3060e, MD3260i, MD3660f or MD3860i chassis.

Tool-less insertion with latch checks

Installation is tool-less: the drive slides into the tray and the integrated latch secures it before the assembly enters the enclosure bay. The most common issue occurs when the latch is not fully engaged, causing the tray to sit slightly proud and preventing the enclosure door from closing or the controller from detecting the drive. Verifying the audible click avoids this. Builders who need trays for non-Powervault platforms or for 2.5-inch drives cannot use this part.
