Dell 1.8TB 10K SAS 2.5in HDD

This new Dell internal hard drive provides 1.8TB of storage in a 2.5in form factor. It operates at 10000RPM with a SAS 6Gb/s interface and includes a 512MB cache buffer. The drive is designed for desktop and server bays that accept SAS connections.

Suits high-speed SAS environments

This drive suits systems requiring 10000RPM performance over a SAS 6Gb/s link. It is not for builds limited to slower interfaces or lower spindle speeds. Buyers needing larger capacities or different physical sizes should consider other models.

SAS 6Gb/s interface decides fit

The single specification that determines compatibility is the SAS 6Gb/s interface. Your host controller or backplane must support this exact protocol to use the drive. Verify the interface requirement before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the 1.8TB 10000RPM SAS drive ship with a mounting bracket or caddy for a 2.5in bay?

The drive is supplied as the bare 2.5in unit; any tray, bracket or caddy required by your server or storage array must be sourced separately.

The part numbers HUC101818CS424 and 0B31878 appear together — which one should I use when ordering a replacement?

Both numbers identify the same Dell 1.8TB 10K SAS 6Gb/s drive; quote either HUC101818CS424 or 0B31878 to receive the correct unit.

With a 512MB cache and 10000RPM spindle, what sustained throughput can I expect in a RAID array?

The 512MB buffer and 10000RPM speed support high sustained transfer rates for sequential workloads, while the SAS 6Gb/s interface provides the link headroom needed in multi-drive RAID sets.
