Dell 800GB SAS 12Gb/s SSD

This 2.5-inch solid state drive delivers 800GB of storage over a 12Gb/s SAS interface. It is built for servers and workstations that require consistent read and write performance. The drive ships new with an included R Series caddy for direct mounting in compatible Dell bays.

Installation and common issues

The drive fits standard 2.5-inch SAS hot-swap bays using the supplied tray. Installation requires a backplane or controller that supports 12Gb/s SAS signalling. A frequent issue is connecting the drive to a 6Gb/s backplane, which limits throughput to half the rated speed.

Compatibility checks

Verify that your server or storage array accepts 2.5-inch SAS SSDs and that the backplane or HBA is rated for 12Gb/s operation. Confirm the R Series caddy matches your chassis slot design before ordering. Ensure the system firmware recognises the HUSMM1680ASS204 model for full functionality.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 12Gb/s SAS link is active after installing the HUSMM1680ASS204?

The system BIOS or RAID controller should report a 12Gb/s SAS link speed for the 800GB drive once it is seated in the 2.5" bay.

Does the box contain the R Series caddy or tray, or must I buy one separately?

The supplier title states the HUSMM1680ASS204 includes the R Series caddy/tray, so no separate tray purchase is required.

Which capacity version of the HUSMM1680ASS204 should I select for an 800GB requirement?

The model number HUSMM1680ASS204 identifies the single 800GB capacity; no other capacities are associated with this part number.
