Buyers who need a different model or a full palm-rest assembly will not find that here. The part arrives new and matches the component shown in the supplier image.

Cosmetic part with no thermal or power role

The cover is a passive plastic piece that sits above the power button. It generates no heat, draws no power and produces no noise during normal use. Installation simply restores the original look and tactile feel of the power button area.

Questions about this item

How is the W565D center control cover installed on the Inspiron 1318, and what step do people often miss?

Remove the keyboard bezel, unclip the old assembly from the palm-rest, then press the new W565D cover firmly until both retention tabs click — many forget the lower tab near the touchpad cable.

What maintenance or replacement will the W565D power button cover need over time?

The plastic actuator can wear after repeated presses; if the button feels mushy or fails to spring back, replace the entire W565D assembly — no separate spring or switch is serviceable.
