Genuine Dell 14" Touchscreen Lid Assembly

This genuine Dell back cover assembly fits Inspiron 14 3421 and 5421 models equipped with a touchscreen display. It replaces a damaged or worn lid while preserving the original fit and finish. The part carries Dell part number KGVXF for exact identification. Installers should verify the touchscreen configuration before ordering.

Replaces Cracked or Warped Original Lid

The assembly is the direct OEM replacement for the factory back cover on compatible touchscreen units. It is worth fitting when the existing lid shows physical damage, hinge stress marks or cosmetic wear that affects closure. The jump is not worthwhile if the laptop uses a non-touchscreen panel, as this cover is not compatible with those variants.

Verify Touchscreen Model and Part Number

Confirm the laptop is an Inspiron 14 3421 or 5421 with a touchscreen before purchase. Cross-reference the existing lid with Dell part number KGVXF to ensure the correct match. This cover will not fit non-touchscreen versions of the same chassis, so visual inspection or service-tag lookup is essential.

Questions about this item

Which screw-hole pattern does the 14" touchscreen lid use for the 3421 and 5421 chassis?

The cover is built to the OEM pattern for the 3421 and 5421 touchscreen models; align the hinge brackets and antenna cables before tightening any screws.

What is the correct order for routing the antenna cables and webcam flex during installation?

Seat the hinge brackets first, then feed the antenna leads through the left channel and the webcam flex through the right channel before snapping the bezel clips.

How often should the hinge torque be checked on the 3421 and 5421 touchscreen assembly?

Inspect hinge tension every six months; if the lid drifts or creaks, re-torque the hinge screws to the service-manual specification to avoid cover stress cracks.
