Versatile 2-in-1 with touchscreen

The Dell Inspiron 15 3511 is a 15.6-inch convertible laptop built around a 1920 x 1080 anti-glare touchscreen. An Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor with four cores and eight threads runs at a 2.4 GHz base and can reach 4.20 GHz with Turbo Boost. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe drive handle everyday multitasking and fast boot times. Windows 11 Home ships pre-installed.

Thermals and power in daily use

A 42Wh integrated battery supplies power to the 15.6-inch panel and the i5-1135G7 chip inside a chassis measuring 14.11 x 9.27 x 0.74 inches and weighing 3.82 lbs. Intel Iris Xe graphics share system memory for video playback and light creative tasks. The 720p webcam includes a physical shutter and dual-array microphones for calls. Connectivity covers 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Upgrade path from older convertibles

This unit replaces an aging 2-in-1 that struggles with 16GB workloads or lacks a responsive touchscreen and NVMe storage. The jump is worthwhile when you need the 3511’s quad-core processor, 512GB PCIe drive and modern port mix including HDMI 1.4, two USB-A 3.2 ports and an SD card reader. Buyers who require more than 32GB of memory or a dedicated GPU should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I replace the 512GB NVMe SSD and what step do people miss?

Remove the bottom cover screws, disconnect the 42Wh battery, then swap the M.2 drive; many forget to unplug the battery first.

Which parts will need replacement after a few years of daily use?

The 42Wh integrated battery and the 720p webcam shutter mechanism are the most common wear items.

What thermal limit appears first when the i5-1135G7 runs at 4.20 GHz for long periods?

The 42Wh battery and slim 0.74-inch chassis limit sustained turbo, so the CPU throttles to protect temperatures.
