Genuine Dell base cover for 17-inch Inspiron models

This black base bottom assembly is a genuine Dell OEM part numbered 474T7. It fits the Inspiron 17 5737 and Inspiron 17 3737 laptops. The component replaces the entire lower chassis section of those machines. It is supplied new and ready for installation.

Structural replacement part

The cover serves as the rigid lower chassis for the laptop and contains no electronics, fans or thermal interfaces. Sustained load on the system does not change the behaviour of this part. It simply provides the mounting points and physical protection for the internal hardware over the life of the device.

Direct swap using existing fasteners and latches

Installation consists of removing the old base, transferring any retained brackets, and securing the new assembly with the original screws. The part includes battery latches and rubber feet already fitted. The most common issue is discovering hidden screws under rubber feet or labels on the original unit, which can delay the swap if overlooked.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the base cover assembly add during all-day use?

The cover is a passive metal and plastic chassis piece with no electronics, so it generates no heat of its own.

What existing laptop parts must I already have to install this base cover?

You need the compatible Dell Inspiron 17 5737 or 3737 chassis, motherboard, battery, and all internal modules that mount to the original base.

Will the rubber feet on this 474T7 cover match the spacing on my older Inspiron 17 3737?

Yes, the feet are moulded to the factory pattern for both the 5737 and 3737 models, so alignment is identical.
