Direct Replacement for Inspiron 14R 5421

This genuine Dell lid assembly fits the Inspiron 14R 5421 and Inspiron 14 3421 models exactly. It restores the original 14.0 inch display housing when the existing cover is cracked or damaged. The part arrives new with the correct black textured finish and integrated wireless antenna cables already routed.

Passive Cooling and Zero Power Draw

The assembly contains no moving parts, fans or electronics, so it adds no noise and draws no power. Its metal hinge brackets and plastic shell dissipate heat from the display panel naturally. Installation simply reuses the original screws and hinge hardware already present on the chassis.

Upgrade From a Broken or Flexing Lid

Replaces a cracked back cover, a loose hinge mount or a lid that flexes when opened. The jump is worth it when the current housing no longer protects the panel or the wireless antennas have been severed. Buyers needing a different screen size, a touch-digitiser frame or a complete hinge kit will need a different part.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 14.0" LCD back cover assembly Y56JJ on my Inspiron 3421, and what step do people often miss?

Remove the old lid, transfer your existing hinges onto the new cover since hinges are not included, then reconnect the wireless antenna cables before securing the bezel.

What maintenance or replacement will the wireless antenna cables in this assembly need later?

The antenna cables are built into the lid; if Wi-Fi reception degrades, inspect the cable routing for pinching or replace the entire lid assembly.

What limit appears first on the textured black finish of this Y56JJ cover under sustained daily use?

The textured surface resists fingerprints but will show wear or scratches at high-contact edges before the structural integrity of the cover is affected.
