Ready for everyday computing

This Dell Inspiron 3520 is a new 15.6 inch laptop built around an Intel Core i5-1155G7 processor with four cores reaching 4.40 GHz. It ships with 16GB of memory, a 256GB SSD paired with a 1TB hard drive, and Windows 11 Pro. The Full HD touch display measures 1920 x 1080 at 120Hz and 250 nits, suited to home and personal tasks.

Thermals and power in daily use

A 3-cell lithium-ion battery powers the system while integrated Intel UHD graphics handle video playback and light workloads without a discrete GPU. The 10 nm Tiger Lake U chip runs at a 2.50 GHz base clock, keeping heat and fan noise modest during typical office or streaming sessions. No backlit keyboard means one less drain on the battery during long workdays.

Ports and expandability for your setup

Connectivity includes HDMI 1.4, two USB-A 3.2 ports, one USB-A 2.0 port, a headphone jack and a microphone input alongside Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The chassis measures 14.11 x 9.27 x 0.83 inches and weighs 3.65 lbs, fitting standard bags without needing a specialised sleeve. Buyers who want a second graphics card or more internal drive bays will need a different form factor.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD, and which step is often missed?

The laptop ships with both drives already fitted. If you add or replace a drive later, remove the base screws, lift the cover, seat the drive in the M.2 or 2.5-inch bay, secure it with its screw, then reconnect the battery before closing — the battery reconnect is the step most people forget.

What maintenance or replacement will the 3-cell lithium-ion battery need later?

The 3-cell lithium-ion battery will lose capacity over time; expect to replace it once runtime drops below your needs. No user-serviceable parts exist inside the sealed pack, so swap the whole unit when required.

What limit appears first during sustained load on the i5-1155G7 with Intel UHD Graphics?

The processor hits its thermal ceiling before the 4.40 GHz turbo can hold, so clocks throttle back to protect the chip. This shows up as reduced frame rates or slower compile times during long sessions.
