Everyday productivity laptop

The Dell Inspiron 3520 15 targets students and office workers who need a responsive Windows 11 Pro machine for documents, web apps and video calls. Its 10-core i5-1235U processor reaches 4.4 GHz turbo for snappy multitasking, while 16 GB DDR4 memory keeps many browser tabs open. The 15.6 inch FHD touchscreen adds direct interaction for annotations or quick navigation.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the 12-thread CPU maintains performance without the sharp throttling seen in ultra-thin designs, thanks to a conventional chassis that allows steady airflow. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles desktop compositing and light creative tasks without a discrete GPU drawing extra power. The 1 TB PCIe SSD supplies consistent read speeds for large project files and OS updates.

Thermals noise and power

In typical office use the laptop runs quiet; fan noise stays low during browsing and document work. Surface temperatures remain comfortable on the keyboard deck and palm rest. The 3.65 pound weight and 0.83 inch profile make it practical for daily carry, while the 65 W-class adapter keeps charging cycles short.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 10-core i5-1235U draw when the laptop runs all day?

The 10-core i5-1235U operates at a 3.30 GHz base frequency and can reach 4.40 GHz turbo while the integrated Intel UHD Graphics shares system memory, so sustained workloads stay within the thin 0.83-inch chassis thermal limits.

Which peripherals must I already own to use the 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1x USB 2.0 Type-A and HDMI 1.4b ports?

You need standard USB-A devices such as a mouse, keyboard or external drive for the 3.2 and 2.0 ports, plus an HDMI 1.4b cable if you want to mirror or extend the 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 touchscreen to an external monitor.

Will the Intel UHD Graphics and 16GB DDR4 memory work smoothly with my older USB 2.0 docking station?

Yes — the USB 2.0 Type-A port on this laptop is backward-compatible, so your existing dock will connect at its rated speed while the i5-1235U and 16GB DDR4 handle the display and multitasking load.
