Dell Inspiron 3520 15 laptop

The Dell Inspiron 3520 15 is a new 15.6 inch FHD touchscreen laptop running Windows 11 Home. It uses a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1235U processor with 10 cores and a 4.4 GHz turbo frequency. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 display. The system includes 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits buyers who need a touchscreen for direct screen interaction and a 10 core processor for multitasking. The 16GB DDR4 memory supports multiple open applications. It is not for buyers who require a discrete graphics card for gaming or rendering. It is not for users who need a backlit keyboard or fingerprint reader.

The specification that decides fit

The 15.6 inch FHD touchscreen with 1920 x 1080 resolution is the defining feature. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics share system memory and limit 3D performance. Buyers who need dedicated GPU power should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Core i5-1235U get when the laptop runs all day?

The 10-core processor has a 15 W base power and can boost to 4.4 GHz, so sustained loads will spin the internal fan and warm the chassis, but typical office work stays quiet and cool.

What must I already own to use the HDMI 1.4b and USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports on this laptop?

You need an HDMI cable for an external display and standard USB-A peripherals such as a mouse, keyboard or flash drive; the ports are built in and require no extra adapters.

Will my older USB 2.0 devices work with the single USB 2.0 Type-A port on this machine?

Yes, the USB 2.0 port is backward compatible, so legacy mice, keyboards or drives will connect and function normally alongside the faster USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports.
