Dell Inspiron 3520 15.6" FHD laptop

This new Dell Inspiron 3520 laptop pairs a 10-core Intel Core i7-1255U processor with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD. The 15.6" FHD display runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and an Office 2021 licence for immediate productivity.

Who this suits and who it does not

Office workers and students needing a light 3.65-pound machine with Wi-Fi 6 and a webcam will value the 10-core CPU and integrated Iris Xe graphics. Buyers who need a discrete GPU for rendering, a backlit keyboard for dark rooms, or a fingerprint reader for biometric login should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification: 10-core i7-1255U

The 10-core Intel Core i7-1255U reaches 4.7 GHz turbo and drives the integrated Iris Xe graphics. This combination handles multitasking and light creative work without a discrete graphics card. If your workload demands sustained heavy compute or dedicated video memory, this processor and graphics pair will not meet that need.

Questions about this item

Can the 16 GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The memory is 16 GB DDR4. The supplier notes the original seal is opened by engineers for upgrades, indicating the RAM can be replaced or expanded.

What thermal limit appears first when the Intel Core i7-1255U runs at its 4.7 GHz turbo for long periods?

The 10-core i7-1255U has a base frequency of 1.2 GHz and a max turbo of 4.7 GHz. Sustained turbo will be limited by the laptop's cooling capacity in the 0.83-inch chassis.

How loud or hot does the chassis get during an all-day workload with the integrated Iris Xe graphics?

The 15.6-inch chassis weighs 3.65 pounds and is 0.83 inches thick. Integrated Iris Xe graphics share the CPU cooler, so fan noise and surface temperature rise with continuous load.
