Ready for heavy multitasking

The Dell Inspiron 3520 combines an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor with 64GB of DDR4 memory and an 8TB PCIe NVMe SSD. This configuration targets professionals who run multiple virtual machines, large datasets or memory-hungry creative applications on a single portable machine. Buyers who only need light office work or web browsing will find the specification excessive for their workflow.

Thermals and power in daily use

A 65W power adapter supplies the system while a 3-cell 41 WHr battery handles mobile operation. The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics keep heat output moderate during typical productivity loads, and the 120Hz IPS panel draws consistent power without a discrete GPU. Sustained all-core workloads will raise chassis temperatures, but the hardware is designed for balanced thermal behaviour in normal office environments.

Build, ports and everyday practicality

The carbon-black chassis measures 14.11 by 9.27 by .74 inches and weighs 3.6lb, fitting standard 15.6in laptop bags. Connectivity includes one USB 2.0 port, HDMI output, an SD card reader and a headphone/microphone combo jack. The limited USB count means users with several peripherals will need a hub or dock, while the SD slot supports quick media offload from cameras or drones.

Questions about this item

How do I install the DDR4 SODIMM modules in the Inspiron 3520 and which step is most often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the 64GB DDR4 SODIMM sticks at an angle until they click, then secure the retaining clips; the step most often missed is pressing both ends down firmly until the clips snap into place.

What maintenance will the 3-Cell 41 WHr battery need over time?

The 41 WHr battery will gradually hold less charge; plan to replace it when runtime drops below your needs, using a compatible 3-Cell unit.

At what point does the 65W power supply limit sustained performance on the i5-1135G7?

Under continuous heavy load the 65W adapter can become the bottleneck, causing the CPU to throttle below its 4.2 GHz turbo once total system draw approaches the adapter's output.
