Dell Inspiron 3520 Core i5 15.6" 120Hz

The Dell Inspiron 3520 is a 15.6-inch laptop powered by an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB 2230 PCIe NVMe SSD. It runs Windows 11 Pro and uses Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics on a 120Hz Full HD IPS display. The chassis weighs 3.6lb and measures 14.11 x 9.27 x 0.74 inches.

Home office and study use with 120Hz screen

This configuration suits users who want a higher refresh-rate panel for smoother scrolling and video playback during general productivity, web browsing or video calls. The 8GB of soldered DDR4 and single 2230-size SSD slot limit upgrades, so buyers who need more memory or a larger 2280 drive should look at other models.

2230 PCIe NVMe SSD form factor

The storage uses the shorter 2230 M.2 form factor rather than the more common 2280 size, which restricts aftermarket drive choices to 2230-length modules. Verify that any replacement SSD matches this length before purchasing.

Questions about this item

What are the physical dimensions of the 256GB 2230 PCIe SSD needed for this laptop?

The storage is a 2230 PCIe NVMe SSD, meaning it measures 22mm wide by 30mm long.

How is the SSD installed and which step is often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the 2230 NVMe drive into the M.2 slot at a shallow angle, press it flat, and secure it with the single retaining screw; the step people skip is re-enabling the drive in the BIOS before Windows setup.

Which component will need replacement first and what specification must the replacement match?

The 3-cell 41 WHr battery will degrade first; any replacement must be a Dell-compatible 3-cell 41 WHr pack.
