Connects the USB, SD reader and Ethernet daughter board to the motherboard on Inspiron 15 5580 and Vostro 5581 laptops
This is a genuine Dell OEM replacement cable with part number XMTFJ. It connects the USB, SD card reader and Ethernet port IO board to the motherboard. Compatible models are the Inspiron 15 (5580) and Vostro 5581 laptops. The part is new and matches the Dell part number 450.0F804.00.
As a passive internal ribbon cable, this component draws no power and generates no heat or noise during operation. It simply carries signals between the IO board and the motherboard without active electronics. Normal use has no thermal or acoustic impact on the laptop.
This cable replaces a damaged, worn or missing original interconnect that causes loss of USB, SD reader or wired network function. The repair is worth it when those ports fail due to a faulty cable rather than the IO board or motherboard itself. It is not for laptops outside the listed 5580 and 5581 models.

Remove the bottom cover and battery, disconnect the old cable from both the I/O board and the motherboard, route the new XMTFJ cable along the same path, then reconnect both ends; the step most often missed is fully seating the motherboard connector until it clicks.
The cable itself requires no scheduled maintenance; it only needs replacement if the USB, SD reader or Ethernet ports on the Inspiron 15 5580 or Vostro 5581 become intermittent or stop working due to cable fatigue or connector wear.
The first limit is signal integrity on the USB, SD reader or Ethernet lines; sustained high-throughput traffic can expose marginal contact resistance at the motherboard or I/O board connectors, leading to dropped packets or device disconnects before the cable itself fails.
