Questions about this item

Must I own a Dell Inspiron 17 5770 or 5775 laptop for this ribbon cable to fit?

Yes, the cable is designed for the Inspiron 17 5770 and 5775 models only and connects the optical drive interposer to the motherboard in those chassis.

Can I keep my existing optical drive interposer when installing this ODD cable?

This ribbon cable links the optical drive interposer to the motherboard, so the interposer you already have remains in place and connects to the new cable.

How do I confirm the cable is working after I replace it?

After installation the optical drive should be detected in the BIOS and read discs normally, showing that the interposer-to-motherboard link is functioning.
