14.5 QHD+ business laptop

The Dell Inspiron 7400 is a 14.5 inch QHD+ laptop with a 2560 x 1600 non-touch IPS display covering 100% sRGB at 300 nits. It runs on an Intel Core i7-1165G7 quad-core processor with 8GB of DDR4 1866 memory and a 512GB PCIe NVMe Class 35 SSD. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed for professional environments.

Upgrade from older ultraportables

This model replaces laptops limited to lower resolution screens, slower storage interfaces or previous generation processors. The jump is worthwhile when you need a 16:10 aspect ratio display, Thunderbolt 4 connectivity and Wi-Fi 6 in a chassis weighing 2.78 lb. It does not suit buyers who want a dedicated graphics card, a touchscreen, or user-upgradable memory beyond the soldered 8GB.

Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.0 limits

The single Thunderbolt 4 port provides up to 40 Gbps bandwidth for data, video and charging, but daisy-chaining multiple high-resolution monitors may hit controller limits. The HDMI 2.0 port supports 4K at 60 Hz yet cannot drive higher refresh rates at that resolution. The microSD slot and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports handle peripheral expansion, though the lack of a full-size SD reader may slow photography workflows.
