Genuine Dell palmrest for Inspiron Mini Duo 1090

This original Dell palmrest and touchpad assembly carries part number 9J8XY and is built for the Inspiron Mini Duo 1090 laptop. It replaces a worn or damaged palmrest so the built-in pointing device works as it did from the factory. Buyers who need a different layout or a standalone touchpad module will not find it here.

New OEM part installs directly without extra wiring

The assembly fits the existing mounting points and connector on the 1090 chassis, so no adapters or soldering are required. Because it is a new OEM component, the surface finish and button tactile feel match the original specification. Installers who lack a compatible chassis or who need a backlit keyboard variant should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Dell Inspiron Mini Duo 1090 palmrest touchpad assembly and what step is often missed?

Remove the battery, unscrew the bottom case, disconnect the old palmrest ribbon cable, swap the assembly, reconnect the cable firmly, then reassemble; the step often missed is reseating the ribbon cable fully into the ZIF connector.

What maintenance or replacement will the Dell Inspiron Mini Duo 1090 palmrest touchpad assembly need later?

The touchpad surface may wear or the ribbon cable may fatigue after heavy use; if cursor response degrades or clicks fail, replace the whole palmrest assembly again.
