Refurbished Latitude 5420 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5420 is a refurbished business laptop graded A for excellent cosmetic condition. It runs Windows 11 Pro 64-bit on an Intel Core i7-1165G7 quad-core processor with 12 MB L3 cache. The 14.0 inch FHD non-touch display offers 1920 x 1080 resolution. Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics use shared system memory. It suits professionals needing a reliable thin-and-light work machine.

Thin light chassis with Thunderbolt 4 ports

The chassis measures 12.72 x 8.44 x 0.78 inches and weighs 3.02 lbs. Connectivity includes two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI 2.0 output and one RJ-45 Ethernet jack. A microSD card reader and 3.5 mm combo audio jack are also fitted. The 512 GB NVMe SSD and 16 GB memory are internal with no optical drive. Buyers who want more storage or a discrete GPU should consider other options.

Sustained workloads on integrated graphics

The Tiger Lake quad-core CPU maintains 2.8 GHz base frequency under load while sharing thermal headroom with the Iris Xe GPU. Shared video memory means heavy graphical tasks compete with system RAM for bandwidth. The thin profile at 0.78 inches limits cooling capacity during extended high utilisation. Fan noise increases when both compute and graphics subsystems run near maximum for long periods.

Questions about this item

Does the i7-1165G7 throttle under sustained multi-core workloads?

The quad-core Tiger Lake chip has a 12 MB L3 cache and shares system memory with the Iris Xe graphics, so thermal limits will appear before the cache fills.

How loud and hot does the 3.02 lb chassis get during an all-day workload?

The thin 0.78 inch profile relies on a single fan; expect noticeable warmth on the keyboard deck and audible fan noise when the i7-1165G7 runs at 2.8 GHz continuously.

Which dock or power brick must I already own to drive two external displays?

Two Thunderbolt 4 ports and one HDMI 2.0 output are built in; a Thunderbolt 4 dock or USB-C alt-mode adapter is required for dual 4K monitors.
