Refurbished Latitude 5420 for business users

This Dell Latitude 5420 is a refurbished 14.0-inch laptop graded A for excellent cosmetic condition. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an Intel Core i7-1165G7 quad-core processor with 12 MB L3 cache. The system includes 8GB of memory and a 256GB NVMe solid-state drive. It suits professionals needing a reliable thin-and-light device for mainstream office workloads.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics share system memory, keeping heat output modest during typical productivity tasks. The 2.8 GHz base processor and compact 0.7-inch chassis manage thermals quietly for standard business applications. No discrete GPU means lower sustained power draw compared to heavier workstations. Fan activity stays low during document editing, email and video calls.

Build fit ports and expansion

The dark gray chassis measures 12.3 x 8.3 inches and weighs 3.2 lbs, fitting easily into compact bags. Connectivity includes two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, two USB Type-C ports and one HDMI 2.0b output. A 3.5mm headset jack and integrated webcam support meetings. The package provides the laptop and a power adapter. Buyers needing more storage or discrete graphics should consider other configurations.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB NVMe drive in the Latitude 5420, and what step is often missed?

The drive slots into the M.2 socket on the motherboard; the step people forget is securing it with the tiny retention screw before reassembling the base cover.

Which component in this Latitude 5420 will most likely need replacement after a few years of daily use?

The 8GB memory is soldered, so the 256GB NVMe SSD is the only user-replaceable part that typically wears out first.

What thermal limit appears first when the i7-1165G7 runs sustained workloads in this 14.0" chassis?

The thin 0.7" profile forces the CPU to hit its thermal throttle point before the Iris Xe graphics or the NVMe drive become bottlenecks.
