Dell KB740 wireless keyboard

The Dell KB740 is a full-size wireless keyboard built for PC and Mac users who want a clutter-free desk. It connects through a 2.4 GHz dongle or Bluetooth, giving two ways to pair with a computer. Gray scissor-switch keys deliver a low-profile typing feel without the height of mechanical boards. No numeric keypad is omitted, so spreadsheet work stays familiar.

Dual-mode connectivity changes daily use

Switching between the 2.4 GHz link and Bluetooth lets the keyboard serve a desktop and a laptop without re-pairing each time. Scissor switches keep key travel short and quiet, which helps in shared offices or late-night sessions. The absence of backlighting means the board draws less power, extending battery life between charges. No palm rest is included, so users who want wrist support must add their own.

Suits multi-device workers who prefer slim keys

This model fits people who move between a Windows PC and a Mac and value a single keyboard for both. It is not for gamers who want per-key RGB lighting or mechanical click feedback. Buyers who need a built-in wrist rest or dedicated macro keys should look elsewhere. Anyone requiring a compact layout without a number pad will not find it here.

Questions about this item

How long do the scissor-switch keys on the KB740 typically last before they need replacement?

The KB740 uses scissor-switch keys rated for standard office use; individual keycaps are not user-replaceable, so the whole keyboard is swapped when keys feel mushy.

Does the 2.4 GHz dongle or Bluetooth link drop first when the KB740 runs all day in a busy office?

Both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth share the same radio; sustained traffic or nearby 2.4 GHz devices will cause the first dropouts.

How warm does the KB740 get and how much power does it draw during continuous typing?

The KB740 runs cool with negligible heat; it draws only micro-watts from two AAA cells, lasting months per set.
